Bentley Bentayga vs Mercedes G63: Which Luxury SUV Should You Rent in Scottsdale?

The Bentley Bentayga and the Mercedes-AMG G63 are both luxury SUVs, both seat a small group comfortably, and both get attention in a resort valet line. That is where the similarities end. One is built around calm, polished comfort, and the other is built around presence and attitude. If you are deciding between them for a Scottsdale trip, the right answer depends much more on the trip than on the spec sheet.
This guide compares the two side by side from a renter's point of view: how they feel to drive, the impression they make, the trips they suit best, and what you need to rent either one.
The Short Answer
Choose the Bentley Bentayga if your trip is about comfort, quiet and understated luxury: resort stays, golf, dinners, family visits and longer drives. Choose the Mercedes G63 if you want the car itself to be part of the experience: arrivals, nights out, photos, celebrations and a look that everybody recognizes.
Driving Feel
Bentley Bentayga
The Bentayga is about refinement. It is smooth and quiet on the freeway, settled over rough pavement and relaxed at any speed. It has strong performance when you want it, but it never asks you to drive it hard. On a longer drive, like a day trip north to Sedona or a run out to the lakes east of the Valley, that calm cabin makes a big difference by the end of the day.
Mercedes G63
The G63 feels like nothing else on the road. You sit upright and high, the boxy body gives you a commanding view, and the AMG character comes through every time you press the pedal. It is more of an event to drive. It is not trying to be quiet or subtle, and most people who rent it would not want it to be.
Style and Impression
The Bentayga makes a quiet statement. People who know cars recognize it immediately, and it fits naturally at a resort, a country club or a fine dining reservation. It says you value craftsmanship over noise.
The G63 makes a loud one. Its shape is iconic, it photographs extremely well and it turns heads in Old Town, at a game or in front of a nightclub. If the goal is to be noticed, the G-Wagon does that better than almost anything with four doors.
Space and Practicality
Both SUVs carry four adults comfortably with luggage, which is why both are popular for airport pickups and resort weekends. The Bentayga's cabin is designed for long-distance comfort, with a plush, quiet rear seat. The G63's upright shape gives good headroom and a big, square cargo area that is easy to load with golf bags or suitcases. For a group that needs more seats than either one offers, look at our full-size SUVs or the Scottsdale fleet as a whole.

Can't Decide? Rent Both
Some groups split the difference. On a longer stay, it is common to take the Bentayga for the travel days and the golf, then switch to the G63 for the night out or the celebration dinner. Because each car is booked on its own dates, you can plan a weekend that gets the best of both, as long as each driver meets the requirements below.
What You Need to Rent Either SUV
The requirements are the same for both. Drivers must be 21 or older, and 25 or older for certain vehicles, with a valid license and full-coverage insurance in the same name that stays active until at least 7 days after the return. A deposit is held from 1 day before until 7 days after the rental, and you need $5,000 available. If you pay by debit card, the deposit is taken in cash. You can read the full rules on our terms and conditions page.
Mileage is 75 to 120 miles per day depending on the vehicle, the car must stay within 200 miles of the pickup zip code, and driving on unpaved surfaces is not allowed, even in a G-Wagon. If you want a driver instead of driving yourself, ask about Black Service.
