McLaren 720S Spider Rental in Scottsdale: A Driver's Guide to Planning the Day

Some supercars are loud about what they are. The McLaren 720S is quieter about it, right up until you open the door. A McLaren 720S Spider rental in Scottsdale puts you in one of the most distinctive cars on the road, with doors that swing up and out, a cockpit wrapped in glass and a twin-turbocharged V8 sitting just behind your shoulders. This guide covers what the car is like to spend a day with, how to plan a Scottsdale route around it and exactly what booking with Royal Rentals involves.
What Makes the McLaren 720S Different
McLaren builds its cars around a lightweight carbon fiber structure, and you feel that the moment you pull away. The 720S is precise and quick to respond, and it feels smaller from behind the wheel than it looks from the curb. The Spider adds a retractable hard top, so you can drive it closed on a hot afternoon and fold the roof away when the evening cools down.
Our McLaren 720S is a white Spider with a blue interior, a combination that photographs beautifully against desert stone and resort architecture. The dihedral doors draw a crowd every time they open, so expect attention at valet stands and restaurant patios.
Who the 720S Suits Best
The 720S is a two-seater built for the driver. It is the right choice if the drive itself is the event: a birthday, an anniversary, a milestone or simply a day you have been looking forward to for years. If you need room for more people or luggage, an SUV such as the Lamborghini Urus or Bentley Bentayga will serve you better.
Planning a McLaren Day in Scottsdale
Time Your Drive Around the Sun
Scottsdale rewards early starts. Morning roads are quieter and cooler, which lets you enjoy the car instead of sitting at lights. Late afternoon into golden hour is when the white paint glows and the mountains turn orange, so it is the best time for photos. In the hottest months, keep the roof up during the middle of the day and open it once the sun drops.
Build a Route, Not Just a Destination
The best McLaren days mix a scenic drive with a few good stops. Start with coffee in Old Town, head north along the wide boulevards toward the McDowell Mountains, stop for lunch at a resort, then finish with dinner and an evening cruise back through town. Keep every stop on paved roads. Our Terms & Conditions do not allow driving on unpaved surfaces, and a low supercar is not built for dirt or gravel anyway.
Plan Parking and Valet
A wide, low car with upward-opening doors needs a little extra space. Choose restaurants and resorts with valet or open surface parking, and avoid tight garages with steep ramps when you can. Give yourself room to open the doors without touching a neighboring car.
Drive It the Right Way
The 720S is capable of far more than any public road allows, and the rules are clear. Rental cars cannot be taken to a track or used for racing, speed tests or demonstrations, and they cannot be driven above 100 mph. Enjoy the sound, the steering and the view. That is what a great day in this car is really about.
What Booking Requires
The entire rental process is online. Complete the Book Now form at royalrentals.io/rentals, choose Scottsdale and select the McLaren. From there the process has three steps.
1. Upload Your License and Insurance
You will need a valid driver's license and an active full coverage insurance policy in the same name as your license. The policy must stay active until at least seven days after the car is returned. Drivers must be at least 21, and certain vehicles require drivers to be 25 or older, so check the requirement shown for the McLaren when you book.
2. Submit Payment and the Security Deposit
A security deposit is held from one day before your rental until seven days after it ends, and you will need at least $5,000 available on your credit card or in your bank account. If you pay with a debit card, the security deposit must be provided in cash.
3. Choose Pickup or Delivery
Collect the car from our office, or have it brought to your home, hotel or resort. Delivery and return within 15 miles of our office are $60 each way, and longer distances are covered in our terms.
Rules Worth Knowing Before You Drive
Mileage: Each rental includes 75 to 120 miles per day depending on the vehicle. Extra miles are billed at 50 cents or $1 per mile.
Distance: The car must stay within a 200-mile radius of the pickup location's zip code.
Fuel: Use 91 octane or higher and return the car with the same fuel level or more.
Drivers: You and one additional driver who is named on the contract and signs it are the only people who may drive.
Timing: Late returns cost $50 for every 30 minutes, so build a buffer into your plans.
Smoking: Smoking of any kind in the car forfeits the entire deposit.
If your plans change, our Cancellation Policy gives a full refund when you cancel at least 24 hours before pickup. Cancellations within 24 hours are not refunded, and refunds or date changes are not available because of unexpected weather.
McLaren or Ferrari?
Scottsdale guests often compare the McLaren with our Ferrari 488. Both are mid-engine V8 convertibles with retractable hard tops. The Ferrari leans into classic Italian drama, while the McLaren feels futuristic, from its doors to its cockpit. If you cannot decide, think about which one you pictured first when you started planning. That is usually the answer. You can compare every car in our Scottsdale collection.
