Phoenix Game Day in a Luxury Rental: Arriving in Style for the Cardinals, Suns and Diamondbacks

Lamborghini Urus from the Royal Rentals Scottsdale fleet, ready for a game day drive from Scottsdale to Phoenix

The Phoenix area is a year-round sports town. Football fills the fall and winter, basketball runs through the cooler months, and baseball takes over in spring and summer. If you are visiting Scottsdale for a game, or you are a local planning a big night with friends or clients, the ride to the stadium is part of the experience. This guide covers the main venues, how to choose a car for game day, and how to plan parking and the trip home.

The Main Game Day Venues

State Farm Stadium in Glendale

The Arizona Cardinals play at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, on the west side of the Valley. From Scottsdale it is a cross-town drive, usually on the Loop 101, and game traffic builds well before kickoff. The stadium also hosts college bowl games and major events, so the same planning tips apply on those days.

Downtown Phoenix: Suns and Diamondbacks

The Phoenix Suns play at the arena in downtown Phoenix, and the Arizona Diamondbacks play at Chase Field a few blocks away. From Scottsdale, downtown is a shorter drive than Glendale, but it is also where parking gets tight on a busy night, especially when events overlap.

Tempe and College Game Days

Arizona State plays football in Tempe, next door to Scottsdale. A Sun Devils game is an easy drive from most Scottsdale resorts and rental homes, and it is a popular add-on for visitors in town for the fall.

Choosing the Right Car for Game Day

The right car depends on how many people are going and whether the game is the main event or one stop in a bigger day.

Four People: Lamborghini Urus or Mercedes G63

For a group of four, the Lamborghini Urus is hard to beat. It seats four, has room for jackets and bags, and pulls up to a stadium lot like nothing else around it. The Mercedes G63 is the other four-seat favorite, with a boxy, unmistakable look that suits a tailgate.

A Bigger Group: Escalade, Navigator or the Sprinter Van

For five or more, a full-size SUV keeps everyone in one vehicle. The Cadillac Escalade Premium Luxury and the Lincoln Navigator both have three rows and plenty of space. For a larger group, our Luxury Mercedes Sprinter Van has club seating, a bar and entertainment, and it can be booked with a driver for up to 8 hours, so nobody in the group has to drive home after the game.

A Date or Client Night: Ferrari or McLaren

If game day is for two, a two-seat supercar turns the drive into part of the night. Keep in mind that low cars and tight garage ramps do not always mix, so give yourself time to find a parking spot that suits the car.

Planning Parking and Timing

Buy Parking Ahead When You Can

Most major venues sell parking in advance. Buying a spot ahead of time means you know where you are going before you leave Scottsdale, and it avoids circling crowded streets with a car you want to keep clean and scratch-free. Parking fees and any tickets are the renter's responsibility under our terms.

Leave Early and Plan the Exit

Game traffic is heaviest in the hour before the start and right after the final whistle. Arriving early gives you time to park, take photos and get settled. After the game, waiting a little while for the lots to clear is often faster and less stressful than joining the rush.

Who Is Driving Home

If your plans include drinks at the game or a celebration afterward, settle who is driving before you leave. The Sprinter with a driver or our Black Service are the easiest ways to keep the whole night simple.

Rules to Keep in Mind on Game Day

Smoking of any sort in a rental forfeits the entire deposit, and that includes the tailgate. Bring the car back clean to avoid a cleaning fee of at least $60, use 91 octane or higher fuel, and return it with the same fuel level or more. If you want the car brought to your hotel or rental home before the game, delivery and return within 15 miles of our office cost $60 each.
