WM Phoenix Open Car Rental in Scottsdale: How to Plan a Luxury Ride for Tournament Week

Every February, the WM Phoenix Open turns north Scottsdale into one of the liveliest weeks on the golf calendar. The tournament at TPC Scottsdale draws huge crowds, the famous stadium-style 16th hole becomes a party of its own, and the restaurants, resorts and nightlife around Old Town stay busy from morning to late night. If you are flying in for the week, the car you drive shapes the whole trip. This guide covers how to plan a WM Phoenix Open car rental in Scottsdale, which vehicles suit different groups, and what to have ready before you book.
Why Tournament Week Calls for a Plan
Phoenix Open week is one of the busiest stretches of the year in Scottsdale. Hotels fill up, dinner reservations get scarce and traffic around TPC Scottsdale builds on the biggest days. A little planning goes a long way.
Book Early
Luxury and exotic cars are limited, and the most popular models go first during big event weeks. If you already know your travel dates, reserve your car as soon as your flights and hotel are confirmed. Our full lineup is on the Scottsdale rentals page.
Think About Parking Before Game Day
Parking near the course is limited during the tournament, and many fans use official lots and shuttles. Check the tournament's own parking and shuttle information before you go. Many visitors use their rental for everything around the tournament, such as airport runs, resort hopping, golf at other courses and dinners, and handle the course itself with a shuttle or a driver.
Choosing the Right Car for Phoenix Open Week
The right vehicle depends on how many people are in your group and what the week looks like outside the ropes.
For Groups: Escalade or Navigator
Traveling with friends, clients or a golf foursome? The Escalade Premium Luxury and Lincoln Navigator give you three rows of seating and room for luggage and golf bags. They make airport pickups and dinner runs simple, with everyone riding together.
For Making an Entrance: Mercedes G63 or Lamborghini Urus
If you want a vehicle that turns heads at the resort valet and still seats a small group, look at the Mercedes G63 or the Lamborghini Urus. Both bring serious presence and SUV practicality, which makes them popular for event weeks.
For Quiet Luxury: Bentley Bentayga
The Bentley Bentayga is a strong choice for couples and business travelers who want a calm, refined cabin between rounds, meetings and dinners.
For the Drive Itself: Ferrari 488 or McLaren 720S
Some visitors plan a morning drive away from the crowds. A two-seat supercar such as the Ferrari 488 or McLaren 720S turns a free morning into the highlight of the trip.
Planning Your Week Around the Tournament
Arrival Day
Delivery and return within 15 miles of our office cost $60 each, so you can have the car brought to your resort or rental home instead of making an extra stop. Longer distances are covered in our terms.
Tournament Days
On the days you head to the course, a driver can be the easiest option. Our chauffeured Black Service covers Scottsdale and Phoenix, so your group can enjoy the day, skip the parking search and get dropped off and picked up without anyone needing to drive.
Off-Course Days
Use the quieter days for a desert drive. Head north toward the McDowell Mountains, Cave Creek or Carefree, keep to paved roads and plan the route within your daily mileage. February mornings in the desert are cool and clear, which is ideal driving weather.
Evenings
Old Town Scottsdale is the center of the action at night during tournament week. If your group plans to celebrate, choose a designated driver or book a chauffeur. Never drive after drinking.
What to Know Before You Book
These are the key requirements from our rental terms. Having them ready makes booking during a busy week fast.
Drivers must be 21 or older, and certain vehicles require drivers to be 25 or older. The requirement for each car is shown when you book.
You need a valid driver's license and full-coverage insurance in the same name, active until at least 7 days after the return.
A deposit is held from 1 day before until 7 days after the rental, and you need $5,000 available. Paying by debit card means a cash deposit.
One additional driver is allowed if they are named on the contract and sign it.
Mileage is 75 to 120 miles per day depending on the vehicle, and extra miles cost 50 cents or $1 each. The car must stay within 200 miles of the pickup zip code.
Use 91 octane or higher fuel and return the car with the same fuel level or more. Late returns cost $50 per 30 minutes, so build in time on your departure day.
Cancelling 24 or more hours before pickup gets a full refund, while cancelling with less notice does not. There are no refunds or date changes for unexpected weather. The full details are on our cancellation policy page.
Love the Car Enough to Keep It?
Some visitors spend a week in a G63 or an Urus and decide they want one at home. Our Lease To Own program offers a path to a luxury or exotic vehicle with no credit needed. Terms and approval details are provided during consultation.
